As of May Day, the KSP hit the one month mark until the 2012 KSP World Tour kicks off at Guincho Beach in Cascais, Portugal.
The Cascais Kite Surf Pro is set for June 1 and will continue through June 10.
At Sportbay, we could not be more excited. After all, it has been quite some time since we have witnessed the skill coupled with raw grit and elegance which is inherant in KSP competitions.
According to the KSP, “the Cascais Kite Surf Pro promises to be an exciting battle brimming with explosive new talent from across the globe.”
Plus, starting the season out in one of the top rated kitesurfing destinations throughout the European Union is  an excellent way to kick off the 2012 season. Guincho Beach features a “large and heavy North Atlantic swells meet strong side-onshore winds, making it a prime kite surfing destination.” With a “powerful break … and its consistent winds”, the kiters who are joining the 2012 KSP World Tour are in for some intense wind and waters to compete on.
In fact, the city itself is one of the most kitesurfing friendly cities in the world. Cascais is one of the Cascais Kite Surf Pro’s primary partners and “welcomes KSP fans, officials and riders to explore its beautiful coastline.”
“KSP really appreciates the support of the City of Cascais and Hotel Muchaxo for hosting the first tour event of the year and helping to make it all possible,” said KSP president Kristin Boese in a KSP press release. “This is going to be a nail-biting, epic battle in an ideal and challenging location.”
All kiters are encouraged to visit the action if they plan to be around this Portuguese city at the beginning of June. For those who cannot make the trip, the KSP will be providing a live webcast at is website.
The Sportbay Team certainly plans on checking in. Do you?
